Vicarious Traumatization: Self Awarenes and Care for Child Welfare Staff
The Self Awareness and Care Support Training will provide child welfare workers who are first responders with an opportunity to process their experiences working with families and children in crisis and their personal responses to their work. The culture of responding to work experiences within child welfare will be explored along with the importance of the awareness of personal issues for workers including transference, counter-transference and secondary trauma. The group will discuss ways of staying positively engaged and maintaining effectiveness in child welfare work including managing professional and personal boundaries and guidelines for effective helping relationships.
