August flew by for us at A Better Way!
Here's our tent at the Solano County Foster Care Picnic, which we attended on August 7th!
We are revitalizing our Foster/Adoption Program! We had an orientation for potential parents in Berkeley and we have an upcoming orientation in Fairfield.
We are in an exciting period of growth right now at A Better Way, and we just received a contract from Alameda County for Another Road to Safety (ARS). ARS is an early intervention program for families who are referred by the Child Welfare System with the goal of stabilizing and strengthening these families to prevent a removal by CWS.
In November of this year, we will begin a new program that will provide temporary housing for transition-age youth (18-21) who have decided to remain in foster care. This program will focus on housing for pregnant and parenting teens, an area in which A Better Way has extensive experience and expertise. All participants in this program will be linked to the mental health services, vocational training, educational supports and life skills training that will help them thrive.
Our Annual Staff Recognition Award is approaching! Past winners include Anita Inman, Office Manager in Berkeley, and Shani Reynolds, Accounts Receivable Accountant.
We hope that your August was as fulfilling as ours was!
