Since opening our doors in 1996, A Better Way has become one of the leading organizations in the Bay Area that provides services to children in foster care or at risk of entering foster care, and their families. A Better Way provides foster-adoption services, parent advocacy, behavioral health services, family strengthening and training.

Our team has been the cornerstone of our success, and a passion for helping the community of children in foster care both drives and unites us. A Better Way reflects the rich cultural community of the clients we serve: we embrace multi-cultural and cross-cultural diversity, and provide services in a variety of languages, including English, Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Russian and Vietnamese.

Benefits Offered to A Better Way Staff

A Better Way has a very generous time off policy and offers benefits to all employees working regularly more than 20 hours per week.

Time off
A Better Way observes 16 paid holidays each year, including 2 floating cultural holidays.

In addition, full-time employees accrue 4 weeks PTO during their first year of employment without waiting period. Paid time off eligibility increases with seniority, reaching 5 weeks after 2 years of employment.

With Paid Holidays and PTO combined, employees enjoy an average of 3 days off per month!

Medical benefits
To support health equity, A Better Way, Inc. funds a Medical Expense Reimbursement plan. As a result, employees are provided with a choice of rich medical plans and benefit from a «zero first dollar » medical solution.

Kaiser and Sutter health Plus medical plans are available to employees, spouse/domestic partner, and dependents.

Dental plan
A Better Way offers a Guardian Dental Premier plan that is a managed fee-for-service program with freedom to choose any dentist. A Better Way covers 100% of the employee premium while offering the employee additional coverage for spouse/domestic partner and dependents.

Vision insurance
Guardian also provides Vision Services. Employees and their families have access to a wide choice of providers at a competitive rate.

Life Insurance and AD&D
A Better Way provides all employees with $25,000 of Basic Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment, as well as Long Term Disability insurance.

In addition, optional Voluntary Life (and/or) Accidental Death & Dismemberment, and Critical Illness insurances are available to employees.

Children & Dependent Care
A Better Way Inc. partners with Corporate Care Solutions Inc. to support employees’ children and dependent care needs. Employees have access to a network of caregivers at a highly discounted hourly rate.

Retirement
Employees of A Better Way Inc. can plan their retirement by accessing a 403(b) plan. Employer participation is discretionary, based on annual results.

Employee Assistance Program
A free Employee Assistance Program is available to all A Better Way’s employees. This program provides confidential consultations for relationship issues, health information, stress management, child/eldercare, professional development, legal and financial concerns.

Wellbeing program
A Better Way Inc.’s free well-being program includes unlimited access to online therapy, discounts for alternative medicine, acupuncture, hearing aids, and roadside assistance.
